Would I use a favorite bird stamp? Add fairy wings to something? Create a tag featuring a spring scene? accent a scrapbook page with butterflies? There are so many possibilities from airplanes to angel&#8217;s wings&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>I (<a href=\"http:\/\/mayflaum.com\/2014\/04\/13\/challenge-winged-things\/\" target=\"_blank\">May<\/a>) think a pair of wings could come in handy sometimes.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-1240\" src=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstampblog.com\/mondaychallenge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/03\/057-copy-600x489.jpg\" alt=\"057 copy\" width=\"600\" height=\"489\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.simonsaysstampblog.com\/mondaychallenge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/03\/057-copy-600x489.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.simonsaysstampblog.com\/mondaychallenge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/03\/057-copy-300x244.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.simonsaysstampblog.com\/mondaychallenge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/03\/057-copy.jpg 1000w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/servlet\/the-65153\/rose-roses-lady-steam\/Detail\" target=\"_blank\">This lady <\/a>is so much fun to stamp and color with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/servlet\/the-Ranger-Tim-Holtz-Markers\/Categories\" target=\"_blank\">distress markers<\/a>. Using a bit of water let me blend the colors and is a lot of fun to do as well. Then by lifting her up (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/servlet\/the-36528\/01615-Scrapbook-Adhesives-self-dsh-adhesive\/Detail\" target=\"_blank\">on foam adhesive<\/a>) and stamping her wings behind this card gets an added layer of dimension.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/suzzstampingspot.blogspot.com\/2014\/04\/wings.html\">Suzz<\/a> loves butterflies and the winged thing challenge is perfect for her.<\/p>\n<p><img class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstampblog.com\/mondaychallenge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/03\/wings_suzz.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>I just acquired the new <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/servlet\/the-64174\/Memory-Box-BUTTERFLY-VINE\/Detail\">Memory Box Butterfly Vine Designer Template<\/a> and couldn&#8217;t wait to use it. I was playing around with mists and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/servlet\/the-49753\/00797-PRIMROSE-PINK-PRIM\/Detail\">Heidi Swapp Color Shine &#8211; Primrose<\/a> made the prettiest background. I added a touch of gold with the<a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/servlet\/the-64068\/tsukineko-imagine-crafts-VersaFine\/Detail\"> Versafine Toffee Ink<\/a>. I created a variety of backgrounds that I can use for a series of cards all perfect for different occasions.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/yayascrap.blogspot.com\/2014\/04\/its-monday-simon-says-winged-things.html\" target=\"_blank\">Barbara<\/a> flew away with this challenge and made a colorful tag.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstampblog.com\/mondaychallenge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/03\/winged_yaya.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"731\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Flying is one thing that I would really like try at least once! In this work I wished to imagine being <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/servlet\/the-51212\/Tim-Holtz-Cling-Rubber\/Detail\" target=\"_blank\">a butterfly<\/a> with colorful wings just come out from its cocoon that is surprised by what she can do! I played with words, colors and materials! For the wings I used the &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/servlet\/the-28602\/Wendy-Vecchi-CLEARLY-FOR\/Detail\" target=\"_blank\">Clearly for Art<\/a>&#8221; heat embossed and colored on the back with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/servlet\/the-Ranger-Tim-Holtz-Distress-Paints\/Categories\" target=\"_blank\">Distress Paints<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/servlet\/the-63613\/659436-garden-greens-spring\/Detail\" target=\"_blank\">small leaves<\/a> with alcohol ink. The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/servlet\/the-64310\/cms183-hashtags-%23remember-the\/Detail\" target=\"_blank\">hashtags stamp set<\/a> was perfect for making the idea of a self-portrait of fantasy.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/meihsia.blogspot.com\/2014\/04\/mixed-media-tags-with-gelatos.html\" target=\"_blank\">Meihsia<\/a> created two mixed media tags with butterflies for this spring.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7123\/13268327045_cdac1c4696_z.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"615\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>It is always so fun to create spring projects with flowers and butterflies. I cut two watercolor paper tags, and colored the background with <a href=\"http:\/\/ysstamp.com\/servlet\/the-43706\/faber-dsh-castell-faber-castell-castle\/Detail\" target=\"_blank\">Gelatos<\/a> and water mixture. After pasting the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/servlet\/the-44966\/Mona-Lisa-CHEESE-CLOTH\/Detail\" target=\"_blank\">cheese cloth<\/a> with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/servlet\/the-54654\/Faber-dsh-Castell-GEL-MEDIUM-Translucent\/Detail\" target=\"_blank\">Gel Medium<\/a>, I attached the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/servlet\/the-57511\/Labelle-Calypso-565909-2013\/Detail\" target=\"_blank\">Prima Flowers<\/a> and some <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/servlet\/the-60910\/prima-flowers-faucet-wheels\/Detail\" target=\"_blank\">vintage trinkets<\/a> on these two tags. Love the beautiful colors and textures.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/purplemailbox.blogspot.com\/2014\/04\/a-look-back-at-luna.html\" target=\"_blank\">Ashli<\/a> took this opportunity to scrap a page all about a sculpture she made in college. <img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstampblog.com\/mondaychallenge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/03\/Ashli-Oliver-soapHOUSEmama-Simon-Says-Stamp-Winged-11.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"605\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>I have been admiring the lovely B<a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/servlet\/the-38390\/7-Gypsies-new-2011\/Detail\" target=\"_blank\">utterfly Rub-Ons by 7 Gypsies<\/a> for some time. As soon as I was able to get my hands on some, I knew they were perfect as a starting point for this page. And, when I came across these pictures of myself installing a giant wire sculpture of a Luna Moth that I made in Art College&#8230; well, the rest is history! With my <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/servlet\/the-38390\/7-Gypsies-new-2011\/Detail\" target=\"_blank\">Rub-Ons<\/a> applied, I finished up the page with Paint and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/servlet\/the-60648\/Faber-dsh-Castell-Faber-Castell-Fabar\/Detail\" target=\"_blank\">Gelatos<\/a>. I love having this story told!<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/michellezerull.blogspot.com\/2014\/04\/wings.html\" target=\"_blank\">Michelle<\/a> was inspired by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/servlet\/the-54834\/American-Tad-INTERNATI-AIRMAIL\/Detail\" target=\"_blank\">American Tag International Airmail Labels<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstampblog.com\/mondaychallenge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/04\/wing_michelle.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"454\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>I love those labels!  They make my mail art look so official. You&#8217;ve got to send mail in order to receive mail, so hopefully, these fun, and whimsical envelopes created with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/servlet\/the-52756\/We-R-Memory-Keepers\/Detail\" target=\"_blank\">We R Memory Keepers Envelope Punch Board <\/a>will entice someone to send mail flying back in my direction. I created the envelopes with the stronger <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/servlet\/the-63610\/pound-Neenah-110-LB\/Detail\" target=\"_blank\">Neenah Classic Crest 110 lb.<\/a> cardstock so it would withstand the wet mediums as well as the wear and tear from traveling through the mail.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/stickydots.blogspot.com\/2014\/04\/simon-says-stamp-monday-challenge.html\" target=\"_blank\">Emma<\/a> was inspired by the lyrics of a song that she grew up listening to.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstampblog.com\/mondaychallenge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/04\/wing_emma.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"730\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Whilst making this wall hanging the lyrics to &#8220;Come Fly With Me&#8221; got stuck on a loop in my head and I just had to include them in my piece using Chit Chat stickers. The background of the tag is stained with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/servlet\/the-Ranger-Tim-Holtz-Distress-Stains\/Categories\" target=\"_blank\">Distress Stains<\/a> and has soft, subtle layers added using Tim Holtz stamps and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/servlet\/the-59573\/Tim-Holtz-Collection-HONEYCOMB\/Detail\" target=\"_blank\">Honeycomb Layering Stencil<\/a>. I slightly adapted the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/servlet\/the-51695\/658260-christmas-cardinal-Tim\/Detail\" target=\"_blank\">Christmas Cardinal<\/a> die cut to use as my main focal point, adding small blossoms to the branches which are die cut from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/servlet\/the-42253\/657824-TATTERED-FLOWER-GARLAND\/Detail\" target=\"_blank\">Tattered Flower Garland<\/a> die. To complete this piece I added a little tag charm that slides out from behind the main tag and has the charming die cut <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/servlet\/the-30269\/PRE-dsh-ORDER-Tim-Holtz-Sizzix\/Detail\" target=\"_blank\">bird and cage<\/a> attached.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/madebysannie.blogspot.com\/2014\/04\/time-is-on-your-side.html\" target=\"_blank\">Sandra Mouwen<\/a> had time on her side when making this card<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/dev.smouwen.nl\/blog\/include\/images\/blog_images\/%23SSSDT\/2014\/IMG_3801.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"847\" \/><br \/>\n<em>I had so much fun making this card. Although the first version of it didn&#8217;t make it. But I therefor love my second try even better. First I stamped the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/servlet\/the-52619\/cms157-travelers-time-brett\/Detail\" target=\"_blank\">Time Traveler<\/a> with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/servlet\/the-33967\/AIP31468-JET-BLACK-Ranger\/Detail\" target=\"_blank\">Jet Black Ink<\/a> on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/servlet\/the-28758\/ranger-industries-ink-altered\/Detail\" target=\"_blank\">Manila cardstock<\/a> base and then stamped it on masking paper. Cut it out and started making the background. I used <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/servlet\/the-21314\/stamp-2010-Tim-Holtz\/Detail\" target=\"_blank\">Pumice Stone<\/a> Distress Ink for the first layer and then<a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/servlet\/the-8395\/ranger-tim-holtz-distress\/Detail\" target=\"_blank\"> Frayed Burlap<\/a> with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/servlet\/the-59648\/Tim-Holtz-Collection-CLOCKWORK\/Detail\" target=\"_blank\">Clockwork Stencil<\/a> and distressed the edges with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/servlet\/the-9132\/tim-holtz-distress-ink\/Detail\" target=\"_blank\">Walnut Stain<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/layersofink.blogspot.com\/2014\/04\/spring-bird-burlap-panel.html\" target=\"_blank\">Anna-Karin <\/a>was in a spring mood with this <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/servlet\/the-52754\/6-x-4-blank\/Detail\" target=\"_blank\">burlap panel<\/a>.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/images-blogger-opensocial.googleusercontent.com\/gadgets\/proxy?url=http%3A%2F%2F3.bp.blogspot.com%2F-V5zXEtrH3II%2FUzvuP3U7BKI%2FAAAAAAAAOCI%2FObo-oZ7zhmM%2Fs1600%2Ffeathered%2B-%2BAnna-Karin.jpg&amp;container=blogger&amp;gadget=a&amp;rewriteMime=image%2F*\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"496\" \/><br \/>\n<em>I love birds and wanted to ink up the new Tim Holtz <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/servlet\/the-64307\/cms180-bird-feather-feathers\/Detail\" target=\"_blank\">Bird Feather <\/a>set. The large bird was made the focal point of my green and yellow spring burlap panel. I used Wendy Vecchi&#8217;s new wonderful <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/servlet\/the-64640\/Wendy-Vecchi-crackled-\/Detail\" target=\"_blank\">Crackled Texture Paste <\/a>for the background and coloured the panel with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/servlet\/the-Ranger-Tim-Holtz-Distress-Paints\/Categories\" target=\"_blank\">Distress Paint <\/a>and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/servlet\/the-Ranger-Archival-Ink\/Categories\" target=\"_blank\">Archival Inks<\/a>. The finishing touches were made with some <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/servlet\/the-Tim-Holtz-Idea-dsh-ology\/Categories\" target=\"_blank\">Idea-ology pieces <\/a>and leafy branches die cut with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/servlet\/the-63613\/659436-garden-greens-spring\/Detail\" target=\"_blank\">Garden Greens<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>This week <a href=\"http:\/\/dan99.blogspot.com\/2014\/04\/those-wonderful-men-who-are-flying.html\" target=\"_blank\">Dan<\/a> created a page for his art journal which included some natty airborne Victorian gentlemen.<\/p>\n<p><img class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.google.com\/site\/dan99crafter\/photo-album\/sssFly1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Don&#8217;t you feel sorry for those poor <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/servlet\/the-30399\/set-lot-Tim-Holtz\/Detail\" target=\"_blank\">Steampunk<\/a> guys, sitting around all immobile after Tim Holtz chopped their legs off?  I know I do, so this week I decided to give them not only legs but wings too!  I had a lot of fun fitting two of the guys&#8217; heads onto the boys body from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/servlet\/the-12811\/stampers-anonymous-unmounted-rubber\/Detail\" target=\"_blank\">Winged Things 2<\/a> stamp set and I think it worked out pretty well.  The third man&#8217;s body came courtesy of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/servlet\/the-10120\/tim-holtz-stampers-anonymous\/Detail\" target=\"_blank\">Dance Card<\/a> stamp set.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/snappingmonsters.blogspot.com\/2014\/04\/my-other-creations-winged-things.html\" target=\"_blank\">Andrea<\/a> created a swirl of lovely butterflies as the highlight of her unique winged creation.<\/p>\n<p><em><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstampblog.com\/mondaychallenge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/04\/wing_andrea.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" \/><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>I am such a sucker for vintage kitchen tools and gadgets.  Maybe it&#8217;s because I think that if they&#8217;re vintage, I&#8217;ll never be required to actually cook or bake with them.  Such is the case with this Jello mold that I found and used for the base of my butterfly flurry.  I created these winged lovelies using Martha Stewart&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/servlet\/the-21537\/Martha-Stewart-CLASSIC-BUTTERFLY\/Detail\" target=\"_blank\">Classic Butterfly Punch<\/a> and her <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/servlet\/the-18516\/283036-Martha-Stewart-CLASSIC\/Detail\" target=\"_blank\">3-in-1 Butterfly Punch<\/a> along with some <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/servlet\/the-55254\/LIFETIME-LIFE-TIME-845711\/Detail\" target=\"_blank\">Prima Life Time paper<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Pop back on Wednesday when <a href=\"http:\/\/craftaddicts-tracyevans.blogspot.com\/2014\/04\/winged-things_16.html\" target=\"_blank\">Tracy<\/a> showcases how to use acetate and Alcohol Inks in your artwork to create eye catching backgrounds in your designs.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstampblog.com\/mondaychallenge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/03\/wing_tracy.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"633\" \/><\/p>\n<p>For more inspiration click on our design team&#8217;s blog links so you can see more photos (and full supply lists) for their projects.
