Hi there! Ashli<\/a> here to share a fun technique using Kraft Glassine<\/a> paper. Kraft Glassine<\/a> is amazing for many reasons, but one of the best things about it is that the more you mess with it… the cooler it gets. Now that is my kind of product!<\/p>\n

To begin this technique, simply apply some white ink onto the surface of your Glassine paper. I have chosen the Hero Hues White Chalk Ink<\/a>…<\/p>\n

With a nice solid coating of the white, I wanted to add in some blue. Simon Says Stamp’s Sea Glass<\/a> is the perfect choice.<\/p>\n

I just lightly rubbed the pad directly onto the surface. This creates a subtle and lovely effect.<\/p>\n

Now the real fun begins! Crumple it up! Do it again. In fact… do it over and over again. The more it’s crumpled and re-crumpled, the softer and fabric-like it will become:<\/p>\n

Ta Da! Wait… I know what you are thinking… “that doesn’t look like much, Ashli.” Well, you may be right. But, we are on our way to gorgeousness. Just you wait and see…<\/p>\n

A quick little brush of White Paint<\/a>:<\/p>\n

And a dabby dab off with a baby wipe…<\/p>\n

Now for some more of that Sea Glass Ink<\/a>. This time, I want a watercolor effect. So, I am smooshing the color directly onto my Craft Sheet<\/a> and will add water…<\/p>\n

Then, just drag your Glassine Paper<\/a> through the color:<\/p>\n

Gorgeous! With that looking just how I want it, I go ahead and give it a good heating with my Heat Tool. This will set all of this inky fun before moving on.<\/p>\n

See how pliable it is? Like fabric!<\/p>\n

And yet, it still tears like paper. Fantastic!<\/p>\n

With my strips all torn out, it’s time to make those stitched borders. I just gathered, pleated and folded the pieces. It still has enough of it’s paper properties that it stays in place and doesn’t need any temporary adhesive:<\/p>\n

Once you have all your folds how you like, just run them through your sewing machine. Easy! But wait… don’t have a sewing machine? Not to worry! You could certainly use a dot of Tacky Glue<\/a> or Hot Glue<\/a> to secure your pleats down. Staples from the Tiny Attacher<\/a> might even be a cool look and a great way to incorporate a metal into these pieces.<\/p>\n

With my little “fabric” border pieces all finished, I decided to work them onto a layout… about Paper Making, of course. There is some sort of fun irony in that, yes?<\/p>\n

I just love the handmade feel and the lovely texture that this gives to my page. Not to mention those lovely Daydreamer Wood Buttons<\/a> and Alphas<\/a>…<\/p>\n

And there we have it!<\/p>\n

The possibilities of this are truly endless! Just think of all of the color combinations to try. Not to mention other things you can construct with “fabric.” Perhaps some flowers, bows, or a stitched patchwork of sorts.<\/p>\n
