Tim Holtz April 12 tags with a Bright Twist

Hi everyone! Happy Tuesday! Do you check out Tim Holtz’s 12 tags of 2016 each month?

The main technique of this tag is using the Distress Paper Mosaic kit to achieve a realistic looking tile piece.  The kit has everything you need for a three part process which comes out looking like actual grout and tile.

I thought I would create my tag based on Tim’s April design but with a twist by using bright colors!  It has a bit more clean and simple look to it without using distressing techniques. Both styles are effective!

I chose the Bo Bunny Believe paper pad which has an amazing  rainbow sheet that I used for my die cut heart piece.

Once I had my mosaic piece done, I created a background with Tim Holtz Woodgrain cardstock which I’ve done a resist with Picket Fence Distress paint and Distress stain.

I used my sewing machine to stitch around the woodgrain panel alternating between straight stitch and zig zag. I’ve kept my finishing touches simple and bold combining black and silver to allow the bright colored heart to be the focal point.

I’ve shot a video of the process and techniques used which you can watch it below or on our YouTube channel.

  1. I really don’t make tags.., maybe I should give it a try. It looks like a fun way to practice techniques & trying out new media.
