This card is a shabby chic creation, full of lots of textures and colors. I used several Taylored Expressions Dies and the beautiful Taylored Expression Sheet Music Embossing Folder. I started with a cream card base and gently inked the edges with a sponge dauber and some Antique Linen Distress Ink.

Next I placed my patterned papers down on the right edge of the card. I ran the Sheet Music Embossing Folder through my Big Shot on some cream cardstock. After I trimmed it down, I also inked the edges with Antique Linen ink. If you take your sponge dauber and run it gently over the embossed images it gives a little more depth. I used some Ripe Persimmon Distress ink mixed with water on my water brush to flick drops of color onto the panel. Then I set that aside to dry. I stamped my sentiment in rich brown ink and trimmed it to size for the bottom of my card.

Then I had fun using the butterfly dies and the postage stamp die to create my focal point. When I was done, I die cut the Shade Tree Cutting Plate from green paper and trimmed off the leaves to use as a little background color under my butterflies. As a final touch I used some pretty gold Doodlebug Sprinkles in the centers of my butterflies.

  1. Thanks, Wanda, for this pretty, cheerful card. Love your layers, that cool embossing folder and the flicks of bright Persimmon color!

  2. Way to go Wanda, I love shabby chic but it is so hard for me to get it to look right! To me it looks kinda rustic trashy( is that a crafting term?). You make it look so simple but I know its not!!

You did a great job and was delightful to look at!

    TFS

    Bye
