One Stamp Five Ways: Summatime!

Hi friends! Happy Sunday and happy last day of June! We’re excited to welcome back special guest Suzy Plantamura with her One Stamp Five Ways monthly feature on our blog with a SUMMA theme as we start to stretch our legs into the season! Read on and enjoy!

One Stamp Five Ways Summatime

Hello, stampin’ crazed friends! Can I assume if you are here reading this you enjoy stamping and creating as much as I do? Today I have a “One Stamp, Five Ways” post to share with you using the brand new stamp set called “Summatime”. As usual, I break my own rules so I have 8 cards to share with you. Hope that’s ok with you all! Haha

This stamp set is full of smaller images and lots of greetings. Sometimes little images get lost on a card, so I used lots of pattern creating for this post. I wanted to try a pattern with each of the stamps in the set and then one with all of them mixed together. I won’t be showing as many different techniques as I usually do though, so be warned!

One Stamp Five Ways Summatime

This first card mixes all of the small images together in what I call a “random stamping” background. I place them on my cardstock like pieces of a puzzle and then use my Misti tool to stamp them. I used a light color of ink so I could color them with no-lines.  I colored them all in with colored pencils. I added a light grey shadow behind each image so it popped off the white background.

I die-cut a green square using the SSS Stitched Square Dies. I stamped the sentiment with Sunflower and White embossing powders. I added some PPP Jewels around the sentiment to finish the card.

I used the Popsicle image for this card. I stamped them with Wow Cloud 9 Embossing Powder on Ranger Watercolor Paper. I turned some upside down to create the pattern in rows across the vertical card. I splattered watercolor drops all over the background and let some run down the card so it looked like Popsicle drips. I then colored the inside of the popsicles with colored pencils.

I stamped the sentiment with the same Wow Cloud 9 Embossing Powder and the smaller words with black ink. I used a small stitched rectangle from the PPP Storybook 1 die. I also embossed a Popsicle and colored it in with colored pencils. I used a Honeybee Stamp Sentiment Banner die cut from black cardstock behind the rectangle. I used some PPP Silver Jewels around the sentiment and on the banner.

This is a second version of the card above – I tried it two ways and liked them both, so I made them both into cards. This time I stamped them in rows across without any of them upside down using the same Wow Cloud 9 Embossing Powder. I splattered watercolor all over the background, but I didn’t let any drip this time.

I cut apart the “sweet summer time” words and used them as a line. I used a banner from the SSS Sentiment Labels dies and Doll Pink Ink. I added some PPP Jewels around the banner.

One Stamp Five Ways Summatime

I did a wash of watercolor over a piece of Ranger Watercolor Paper using blues and greens. I then stamped the small cactus stamp with Lawn Fawn inks using blue and green inks moving down the paper.

One Stamp Five Ways Summatime

I used the SSS Stitched Rectangle Dies for the sentiment. I stamped the sentiment with the same three colors of inks moving downward. I added a cactus as well and colored it in with colored pencils. I finished with 3 PPP Jewels.

One Stamp Five Ways Summatime

This time I created a pattern using the little slice of fruit with the drips. I figured this could be used as a lemon, a lime, a grapefruit, or an orange, so I used it as all three. I used Lawn Fawn Inks in Freshly Cut Grass, Lobster, and Carrot and colored them in with colored pencils. I turned them every which way to create the pattern.

One Stamp Five Ways Summatime

I stamped the sentiment on small stitched rectangles three times with embossing powder. I layered them over each other and added some more PPP Jewels around them.

One Stamp Five Ways Summatime

This card is another version of creating a pattern with the same fruit slice. This time I created a diagonal pattern on watercolor paper that I had painted with yellows and reds. I stamped them with Lobster and Carrot Inks and colored them in with colored pencils.

One Stamp Five Ways Summatime

I stamped the sentiment with Lobster Ink on a long stitched rectangle from the PPP Storybook 2 die.  I also stamped the sliced fruit next to the sentiment using Sunflower Ink. I went over all with colored pencils. I colored the fruit ink with colored pencils and outlined and shadowed the sentiment with colored pencils. I added some PPP Jewels around the sentiment.

One Stamp Five Ways Summatime

This is my first card that doesn’t use a background pattern! I started with an old piece of patterned paper that was in my stash and I have no idea what it is from! I then stamped the “you shine bright” stamp with black ink three times in a row. I colored the rainbows in with colored pencils. I used the SSS Scallop Stitches Die on each side of the cardstock to create a long rectangular piece. I attached this over the patterned paper.

One Stamp Five Ways Summatime

I finished this card with jewels once again. This time I used all the colors of the rainbow randomly around the rainbows!

One Stamp Five Ways Summatime

Don’t you love this silly avocado? I can’t say I already had an avocado stamp until now! I stamped it in a pattern with black ink using it both right side up and upside down! I colored them in with Copic Markers. I also colored the background with a Copic Marker.

One Stamp Five Ways Summatime

I used a rectangle die-cut from white cardstock for the sentiment. I stamped the “dear friend” with black ink and the “you’re rad” with Leaf Green embossing powder. I stamped the avocado again with black ink and colored it in with colored pencils. I added some PPP Blush Jewels around the sentiment.

Although this is a smaller stamp set with smaller images, I think it has great possibilities for making many cards (8 in this case!). I love using small images to create patterns and the sky is the limit on how many options there are for a stamp set like this! Try pulling out some of your stamps and creating patterns with them to get more use out of the smaller images you may not have found a use for in the past! I hope you have fun and another warning – this pattern play is addictive! Thanks for visiting the SSS blog today! Suzy
