One Stamp, Five Ways: Birthday Numbers!

Hi friends! Happy Thursday! We’re back with another edition in the popular series, One Stamp, Five Ways! Read on to learn about how Suzy Plantamura made these fun and festive cuties along with some BONUS inspiration! Enjoy!

One Stamp, Five Ways: Birthday Numbers!

Hello, Simon Says Stamp friends! Today I have a “One Stamp, Five Ways” post to share with you using a stamp set that I absolutely love. Making these cards was so much fun! This stamp set is one that everyone needs in their “arsenal” as it is so perfect for birthday cards of every type. I had so much fun, I made 6 cards with it and also have 2 more to share that I had made with this set previously. So let’s get started!

One Stamp, Five Ways: Birthday Numbers!

I think we would all be delighted to have someone turn 80 in our lives! Considering I’ve lost my father and my mother is 85, I may have to save this one for some time! This background was made with stripes of watercolor on this blog post here about making backgrounds ahead of time if you want to see more about the process.

I used the PPP Stitched Hexagon die for this shaker card. I inserted several PPP sequins and jewels inside the shaker window. I stamped all of the images on white cardstock with a light color of ink and colored them in with colored pencils. I colored the Happy Birthday dies with Copic Markers to match. I layered all of the images over the shaker window and the Happy Birthday sentiment at the bottom of the card.

This card has a similar look to the last one and I could have made it into a shaker card as well with this Window Frames die. I made the background on the same blog post referred to above about making backgrounds ahead of time. I used the SSS Medium Dots Stencil and Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide Ink.

One Stamp, Five Ways: Birthday Numbers!

I stamped all of the images on white cardstock with a light color of ink and colored them in with colored pencils. I used a fine tip black marker to outline them (sometimes I like this doodled look better than the black outlines you get with stamping them in black). I stamped the sentiment in the stamp set with white embossing powder on a blue cardstock banner. I layered all of the stamped images over the window frame die and used some Sea Glass Jewels around the images.

One Stamp, Five Ways: Birthday Numbers!

This background was made by watercoloring a piece of Ranger watercolor paper with Daniel Smith watercolors. I used a wet on wet technique, dropping in several colors of paint. I die-cut the piece with the largest size Lawn Fawn stitched rectangle. I used the SSS Repeating Circles die inside this piece. You can’t see the 6 circles, but they are under the cupcakes. It gave me a good way to space them accurately.

I stamped the cupcakes on white cardstock with a light color of ink. Have you seen a pattern here yet that I don’t like black outlines on my stamped images? I colored them all in with colored pencils. I used Kaisercraft Glitter Pens over the spots on the cupcakes. I attached the six cupcakes with foam tape behind them over the openings on the background. I stamped the sentiment from the stamp set using SSS Intense Black Ink on a Honeybee Sentiment Banner Die.

One Stamp, Five Ways: Birthday Numbers!

This is my favorite card from the six and might actually be one of my favorite cards I’ve ever made. I’m excited to give it to my grand-daughter when she turns 4 in March. I used my Picture Book dies for the first time as they coordinate so well with these large number stamps. I die-cut all three out of white cardstock and then colored them in with Copic Markers. I attached them to a piece of white scrap paper so they were all in one piece and then cut it out around the images.

One Stamp, Five Ways: Birthday Numbers!

I made the background using the SSS Poinsettia’s Cling Stamp I just love this design for birthday cards! I used white embossing powder and then painted over it with Daniel Smith watercolors. I attached a white die-cut rectangle over the top of the card and placed my three Storybook dies over it. I stamped the number 4 from the Birthday Number stamp set with a light color of ink and colored it in with colored pencils. I attached that above the dies. I stamped the sentiment from the stamp set on a stitched banner with Intense Black Ink and attached that to the bottom of the card.

One Stamp, Five Ways: Birthday Numbers!

This is my usual random stamping card. I love doing these as they are like puzzles. It is really important to use a Misti stamping tool when doing this technique as it makes it much faster! I used white embossing powder over Ranger watercolor paper. I then painted the images with Daniel Smith watercolors. I used a wet on wet wash of all of the colors mixed for the background.

One Stamp, Five Ways: Birthday Numbers!

I stamped the number 1 on white cardstock with a light color of ink and colored it in with colored pencils. I attached that over the bottom of the card. I stamped the sentiment on a Honeybee banner die with Intense Black Ink. I added some PPP jewels in Marigold and Sea Glass.

One Stamp, Five Ways: Birthday Numbers!

I made a card using one of the large picture die animals a few weeks ago and realized these Birthday Numbers fit perfectly in the animals’ hands, so I wanted to try another one. This time I used the large Lion die. I die-cut him out of white cardstock and colored him in with Copic markers. I added shading and details with colored pencils. I used little eye-balls over his eyes.

One Stamp, Five Ways: Birthday Numbers!

I made the background ahead of time on that same blog post mentioned before. This time I used Texture Paste colored with Spun Sugar Distress Oxide Ink over the SSS Tiny Circle die. I stamped the sentiment with black ink on the bottom of the Lion’s body and then attached him over the background. I stamped the number 8 on white cardstock with a light color of ink and colored it in with colored pencils. I placed that in his hands. I added some PPP Sparkling Clear and Orchid Sequins around his body.

I made these two cards when some of these dies were released a few weeks ago as part of Die-cember.
