New Beginnings Journal Page with Shari

Hi everyone, it’s Shari here with a journal page for you on this fine Saturday!

I was so excited by the technique Wendy Vecchi demonstrated at CHA …. I had to give it a whirl!  You can see Wendy’s video HERE.  I didn’t have the Archival re-inkers on hand so thought I’d give try using my Simon Says Stamp and Hero Arts inks. (I snuck in the new Audrey Blue ink which will be available Feb 21st! shhhhhhh).  Also, I wanted to do a document type page, using a little pocket to hold a photo and my thoughts.

I like how the background turned out, it’s soft and subtle… just perfect for Baby News. It’s almost like glass when mixed with the alcohol, the layers are amazing in real life.

I love the Basic Pockets from Simple Stories, I can dress them up how ever I want!

A touch of Crackle Texture Paste added just a hint of Shabby to my page.

I’ve put together a full length video for you of the process, hope you enjoy!

Thanks for taking the time to stop by on your weekend!

  1. As always, a beautiful page from Shari. I’m interested in the crackle paste. Do you put something over the paste to get the texture or does it crackle what’s under it?

  2. I also love the background and page but have a question. Why did you use the Multi Medium Matte Paint under the crackle paint? Also why did you avoid putting crackle paint on the stamped image, was it just artistic preference or does it smear?

  3. So beautiful page!!! I LOVE the background technique, I’m going to try it as soon as possible! The colors combination is amazing, and the photo…ohhh so cute!!! Thank you for the inspiration!!!

  4. When I saw Wendy’s demo of this technique, I really wanted to try it. Thank you for creating a project which will inspire me to give it a go!

  5. Oh wow so beautiful and soft, love the page you created and I hadn’t seen the technique before but I’m inspired to try it…thank you!!
