Let’s Celebrate 2015!

Happy New Year!! Hi it’s Debby and I’m delighted to be wishing you a Happy New Year here on Simon’s blog :D What better way to bring in the New Year than with a sparkly explosion LOL. The round balloon dies from the Celebration Time and Balloons sets make great iconic bomb shapes when turned upside down and a twine fuse added

To start the card I inked Neenah solar white 80lb card in a rainbow of Distress Inks (barn door, spiced marmalade, mustard seed, broken china, evergreen bough, chipped sapphire and black soot) before die cutting with one of the Stitched Square dies. A splattering of a solution of Perfect Pearls reacted with the Distress Inks to give a starry night sky. The numbers for the 2015 are cut from DCWV glitter card using the Simple Number dies and the zero replaced with the smallest round balloon from the Celebration Time dies cut from Black card. The fuse is a piece of black Hemtique twine coated with Matte Multi Medium, shaped and left to dry then adhered to the back of the bomb with a glue dot. A few stars (Holiday Shapes) and Pretty Pink Posh gold sequins finished off the panel, which is foam mounted on a top folding Neenah 110lb card base stamped with a sentiment from the Sparkle & Shine set.

The larger bomb could be used as a small card or a tag for a bottle of New Year’s champagne. The round balloon from the Balloons die set is cut twice from Black card. One of the die cuts is scored just below the balloon tie to allow the card to fold open when adhered. The fuse is again black Hemtique twine coated in Matte Multi Medium but this time two pieces of twine are twisted together before shaping and leaving to dry. Once dry the twine is sandwiched between the two die cuts with a glue dot and some Glossy Accents to make sure the two pieces stay together at the top. Once the bomb is constructed, another 2015 and more stars cut from DCWV glitter card using the Holiday Shapes die and Simple Numbers dies respectively add the required amount of bling!

I hope you enjoyed the start of the New Year. Here’s hoping for a year filled with love, laughter and creativity :D
