Hi all and welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge

Thank you for joining us for the Felt That Challenge and we hope you will all join us again this week too.

Please scroll down to see who are in the spotlight and who is the lucky winner of the Felt That Challenge

This week the challenge is

MAKE A WISH

We usually  ’Make A Wish’ before blowing out the birthday candles, but you could create something with a wish in mind. I wish I was lying on a beach listening to the waves and reading a good book. What is YOUR wish? We will look forward to seeing what you make!

As always Simon Says Stamp will be giving away $50 voucher to shop at the fabulous Simon Says Stamp Store

Kassa created a postcard sized birthday party!

kassa

I used a piece of Dina Wakley’s Media Board trimmed to postcard size and I coated with  Ranger Texture Paste, Tim Holtz’s Crazing MediumDistress PaintDistress ink Spray and Distress Crayons. I used a  Tim Holtz Sizzix Mini Bird Crazy Stamps & Thinlits Dies and  Tim Holtz Sizzix Framelits Birthday Blueprint Stamp to create a party. I finished with Abandoned Coral Distress Spray  and stained Ideaology Crinkle Ribbon. I think the cupcake looks good enough to eat!

Andrea made an altered tin assemblage featuring a classy wish-catcher.

IMG_9929

I got to thinking about wishes and what happens to all of the ones that get lost in the fast-paced big city.  So I made a “wish catcher” girl to gather up any stray wishes and make sure they get answered.  The girl is from Tim Holtz’s Occasions Found Relatives card set and her dress is covered with polka-dot and striped Washi tape from Doodlebug.  The city background is made with a very cool double stamp/stencil set from Stampendous called Urban Scribble.

Anna-Karin made a scrapbooking layout this week, full of wishes.

make_a_wish-Layers-of-ink

My boys’ birthdays are close to each other and this layout is about making wishes and following your dreams. I had fun doing a mixed media scenic background using Tim Holtz dies, stamps, stencils and Distress Paint. I had been waiting for the Wildflowers dies and was happy to use them here. I also used some of Tim’s mini stencils, featuring two of my favourite designs, from set 8 and set 9.

Barbara loves to have wishes!

wishsimon

I interpreted this challenge in a very personal way, I wanted to express something that is very important for me: keep the same curiosity and the same wishes that  all kids of the world have!  To make  this I used one of the photos from Found Relatives  Portraits and I created a canvas using Tim Holtz Idea-ology FRAMED PANEL . For my background Tim Holtz Sizzix CROSSHATCH Frameworks cut on  Core’dinations Metallic Cardstock  painted with Alcohol Inks lights my work. To complete the dreamy atmosphere I used stars and butterflies in subtle colors.

Cathie created a colorful tag with stars raining down representing many wishes.

final-1

I created my background using several different colors of Distress Spray Stains. The stars were applied with the Heidi Swapp Confetti Stencil along with Ranger Gloss Transparent Texture Paste. I applied several stamps from the Tim Holtz Ultimate Grunge set along with a couple of his single clear stamps, Umbrella Man and Weathered Clock. My flowers were created using the Tattered Florals Bigz die cut out of corrugated paper and sprayed with more distress spray stains.

Cheiron created a wish tag with a reminder to keep wishing.

cheiron_WISHTAG

I made this little tag this week as a reminder to keep on believing. I started off by painting two tags with Distress Paint in Mustard Seed and Victorian Velvet, and cutting one with the Mixed Media 2 die and layering them together. I added Alphanumeric Marquee letters, some remnant rubs, big chat and a mirrored star. I finished the tag up with some Crinkle Ribbon colored with Distress Stain and a spritz with my marker spritzer.

Kath made a notepad to jot down all the items on her crafty Wish List

wish 1

I removed the clip from the Idea-ology Mini Clipboard and painted it with Ranger Black Gesso. I created the notepad using papers from the Wallflower Paper Stash trimming them slightly smaller than the clipboard and scoring 3/4″ down from the edge. I created a collage for the front of the notepad by layering small pieces of Wallflower papers and fixing them in place with Distress Collage Medium Matte. I created a shadow around each piece using the Walnut Stain Distress Crayon and highlighted with the Sharpie White Extra Fine Point Marker. I used Tim Holtz Sizzix Writing Desk die to cut the feather from the Idea-ology White Substrate Sheet inked the edges with the Hickory Smoke Mini Ink Pad and stamped Ledger Script with Black Archival. I die cut the inkpot from Tim Holtz Co’redinations Kraft Core sanded lightly, decorated with a Vial Label and coated in Glossy Accents. I added Pen Nibs, stars from Christmastime Remnant RubsChitchat Stickers and Alpha Tiles. To finish off I applied Ranger Vintage Transfer Foil Cream and Gold to highlight the edges, the pen nibs, the feather and the clip.

Lols is wishing her brother a Happy Birthday!

DSC03323

The Tim Holtz Birthday Blueprints Cling Stamp Set is one of my all time favourites and perfect for both feminine and masculine cards. I stamped the cupcake with Jet Black Stazon and coloured with Peacock Feathers, Squeezed Lemonade and Antique Linen Distress Inks, I then masked the image and splattered with Dylusions Fresh Lime and Vibrant Turquoise inks.  The Peacock Feathers Ink coordinates beautifully with Simon Says Stamp Audrey Blue Card Stock so I used that for layering and then found a scrap of lime plaid to do down the edge. I finished with Washi Tape, Tim Holtz Paper String and a few dabs of Star Dust Stickles.

Macarena wishes for a colorful starry summer nights!

DSC00067

For my background made on Watercolor Paper, I used Dylusions Sprays then I put Clear Embossing Ink through the Prima stencil and heat embossed with Clear Embossing Powder by Simon Says Stamp. After that I covered the page with Dylusions Black Paint ans the colors popped up from underneath the black. Between the black and blank space I used dark blue and purple Distress Inks to get an effect of an irregular night sky. I die cut two lines of houses from a heavy cardboard, covered with gesso and Dylusions Sprays. Finally gave Glossy Accents which brighten the colors and made them vibrant. After that I stamped some details with White Ink, put the stars and to give a final touch of night shining sky, I adhered randomly Gold Foil by Prima. Finally I cut out the sentiment with Alphanumeric Dies which I just love!

Lots of birthday wishes are happening at Maura’s house this month.

MakeWish

I was inspired to make this little birthday card after watching a video on the Simon Says Stamp You Tube channel. I took out my Distress Crayons and started coloring, and then used the Tim Holtz Honeycomb stencil to add some texture with my Ranger Heat tool. I love the sweet little images from the Simon Says Stamp Baby Party Animals and Cuddly Critters (from the My Favorite collection) stamp sets. I’m happy I tried this new technique!

Meihsia was inspired to create a mixed media tag this week.

Meihsia Liu Simply Paper Crafts Mixed Media Tag wish Simon Says Stamp 600

Tags are always one of my favorite projects to create. On this tag, I embossed the background with Tim Holtz Stamp, Clearsnap Inkpad and ColorBox Embossing Powder. To make the sentiment, I pasted the Alpha Parts letter stickers ”wish” after colored them with Distress Paints. Some Prima Flowers and Tim Holtz metal embellishments were adhered on the tag using Tombow Mono Glue.

Sandra is in the middle of a birthday season
IMG_5306
These months are for me kind of a birthday card season. And I’m so glad that this challenge came along. I made a boy and girl version of the card. I used the Simon Says Stamp Birthday Frame die as my base and used lots of Washi tape to stick it down and build up my card. For the background stamping I chose Read To Me stamp with Archival Ink Jet Black.

Zoey altered a Tim Holtz Idea-Ology Vignette Panels to create an unique ATC

MixedMediaAtc_Zoey_scrapsaurus_sss

I love these little Vignette Panels and altering them was super easy – I used a bit of Tissue Wrap Paper and a mix of Tissue Tape that then I covered with a bit of Gesso. I used Distress Crayons to add color and the Tim Holtz Distress Paint Metallic Shades to add some light! For the decoration…well..everything is easier when you mix and match Tim Holtz Idea-Ology Ephemera Pack , Tim Holtz Idea-Ology Photobooth and the Tim Holtz Stickers!

So now it’s YOUR turn to get out your inks, paints and all things arty and start creating! We are looking forward to seeing what you make!

Thank you for joining us for the Emboss It Challenge and we hope you will all join us again this week too.

This week the challenge is

Using felt is very ‘on trend’ tight now and being the trendy bunch that we are we thought we should use some too!

Kassa transformed an old plank of wood into a beautiful piece of art!

Kassa

I die-cut the Simon Says Stamp Black Spring Plush Wool Felt Sheets using Tim Holtz Sizzix Mixed Media Thinlits Die, the dimonds easily fell out of the die creating a beautiful texture to my background.  The felt looks cool coated with a thin, random layer of  Dina Wakley’s White Gesso , which when dry colorises perfectly with various shades of Tim Holtz Distress Paints.  I am in love with this Tim Holtz Flower Garden Stamp which I’ve heavily layered and added stitches here and there.

Andrea ’felt’ like making some cute little baby booties.

IMG_9896

Last time I followed a sewing pattern was when I was in junior high or high school and made one of those satin-backed floral vests that was all the rage in the 90′s.  And even then, I did it totally wrong.  Needless to say, it was terrifying to follow a pattern again!  But I couldn’t resist trying to whip up some baby booties using white, pink and blue felt along with some great die cut flowers from Avery Elle.

Anna-Karin made a summery felt tag.

felt_tag-Layers-of-ink

We are showcasing the wonderful Simon Says Stamp Spring Plush collection this week, but my parcel got held up somewhere along the way and didn’t arrive here in time (I bet I will get it today), so I had to improvise a bit. If you back it with paper, felt works great as an entire background for a card or, as in this case, a tag. I had fun combining felt and Sizzix Paper Leather for my sunflower, die cut with the Simon Says Stamp Exclusive Radiant Sunflower die. The paper was coloured with Prima’s Classics watercolour set. You can die cut even detailed wafer-thin dies, such as words, from felt.

Barbara has mixed paper, distress inks and felt!

felt simon

Simon Says Stamp Spring Plush release is absolutely a sweet collection! It’s beautiful and well suited to those who like me is not really a specialist in sewing! For my card I used SWIRL FLOWERS AND LEAVES Wafer Dies  : it’s amazing, very easy to do and beautiful to see. I also used a card from Simon Says Stamp SUZY’S WATERCOLOR EVERY OCCASION NOTES painted with Distress inks in colors matched to the felt!

Cathie used household items to create the images on her felt background.
final
I used a piece of Simon Says Stamp White Felt  to create my background panel. I added interest using household items, ink and paints. For the flowers, I used the lovely Simon Says Stamp Plush Daffodil and Daisy wafer dies along with the Tim Holtz Movers and Shapers Hearts die set to create the pretty flowers on my panel. The letters are made out of black card stock using My Favorite Things Little Letters.
Cheiron combined some felt hearts with a mixed media background to create her card.

I used the Simon Says Stamp Pastel Felt Sheets to cut out a bunch a hearts using the Tim Holtz Sizzix Heartfelt die. I stamped my sentiment from the  Handwritten Thoughts set and created a background around the sentiment using gesso through a mini Stencil from the Mini Stencil 7 set. I applied Distress paints using my fingers in Cracked Pistachio, Squeezed Lemonade and Dried Marigold to color my background, then adhered the felt hearts to the card front.

Kath decorated a calico bag with lots of die cut felt flowers as a gift for a girlfriend who’s a keen gardener.
1-bag 1
I used Taylored Expressions Felt Peach Green and Pink Bundles along with the Plush Blooming Heart die from Simon Says Stamp Spring Blush release to create the border, flowers and leaves. I created the decorative stitching using contrasting colours of floss and added some Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear Cupped Sequins for a bit of girly bling. I created the tag from Ranger Natural Sticky Back Canvas.

Lols made a ‘Welcome Banner’ for her garden

DSC03308

I have been thinking about making a banner for my garden for quite a while and when this theme came up I thought it was a perfect opportunity to get on with it! I used a Lawn Fawn Stitched Party Banners Die to cut scraps of cream colored fabric then stamped the rings using Aquamarine Archival Ink and a Tim Holtz Halftone and Rings Cling Stamp. I cut the letters out printer paper using a Silhouette Cameo and used them as a pattern for cutting the felt. I used a pack of Simon Says Stamp Pastel Felt and the bright pink sheet from a Lipstick Party Felt Pack. I used the same colors of felt and a Tattered Florals Die to make a decorative finish.

Macarena felt a strong temptation to go out her comfort zone!

DSC00016

This project is my very FIRST adventure with felt, ever! This canvas panel is so far away from my comfort zone! Anyway, please take a look and maybe it inspires you somehow. Take a canvas panel, cover it randomly with White Gesso, let it dry. Smooth the background with Distress Stains, spray with water and blend colors. Put randomly sone colors of Distress Inks through the stencils.  Stamp any patterns with Black Jet ink, moderate with White Gesso. Splash with Black and White Paint, paint the edges with Black Paint. Apply a layer of White Paint on the top of a bottle and stamp some circles. Accent the circles with a Black Chameleon and here you have the ackground! Cut out a heart from White Felt. Spray Dylusions on the mate and dip it in each color randomly. Cut the heart into two, make holes and pass the twine through them. Stamp Ponderings on clear acetate with Emossing Ink and cover with White Embossing Powder. Adhere with clear double sided tape.

Maura’s thinking about how to combine felt and alcohol inks.

FeltThat

Do you have supplies in your stash that you haven’t used in forever? Well, I know I do, and when rediscovered, it’s playtime for certain. I pulled out my Tim Holtz Alcohol Inks to play with on Yupo Paper and boy, did I have fun! I used my Simon Says Stamp Plush Daffodil and Daisy die to cut some flowers out of Simon’s Pastel Felt. Then, I hung it in my Tim Holtz Flip Frame which I love. Ah, a breath of spring.

Meihsia loves to experiment with different materials on her art journal.

meihsia Liu simply paper Crafts Simon says Stamp Felt die 6001
I always love to experiment mixed medias and colors. This week, I had so much fun to die cut and sew these felt hearts on my art journal using these Heart Wafer Dies. Some Tim Holtz metal embellishments and Big Chat Stickers were attached on this page. To create a vibrant color scheme, I dabbed Distress Paints on this page.

Sandra had fun using felt on her card

IMG_5301
Felt is so trendy right now, so I love that we’re challenge to use it in our projects. I used it like I normally would use cardstock, or another type of material like cork or burlap. I’ve used White Felt along with the Big Hugs Die from Simon Says Stamp. The background I’ve made with the Simon Says Stamp Leaves Mask, Faded Jeans Distress Ink and Prussian Brusho. The explosion of color effect of the Brusho is so pretty.

Zoey used Simon Says Stamp Plus Puffy Clouds to make a bookmark

MixedMediaBookmark_Zoey_Scrapsaurus_SimonSaysStamp

I added color to the Manila Tag blending a bunch of Distress Crayons together – I die cut the top and two smalls rain drops with the Simon Says Stamp Plush Puffy Clouds and then I decorated the tag with stamps and tissue tape. I also die cut the same Puffy Clouds with Simon Says Stamp Wool Felt Black and glued it down in the top to create a Bookmark!

So now it’s YOUR turn to get out your inks, paints and all things arty and start creating! We are looking forward to seeing what you make!

Kassa used a Tim Holtz Sizzix Dragonfly Die with Texture Fades as the focal point of this page

Kassa

I colored the dragonfly with  Distress Paints and used  Ink Shiny Transfer Foil Sheets and a   Newsprint & Type stamp for the wings. I also used a  Tim Holtz Sizzix Typewriter & Keyboards Embossing Folder, I cut out the ‘buttons’ once embossed to add more interest and dimension. For the background I used Distress Crayons blended over Ranger Inks Frosted crystal embossing powder, I love the colorful effect this technique gives.
To finish I used black cotton thread, Tim Holtz Ideaology Occasions Small Talk Stickers a few color coordinated  Sequins and paint splatters.

Andrea used embossing paste to add tantalizing texture to her house tin.

IMG_9879

Nothing gets me more giddy than cute tiny tins just begging for a revamp!  I used some of Wendy Vecchi’s White Embossing Paste on the background of my tin, which I stamped patterns into and then sprayed with Distress Stain.  I layered on some paper embellishments cut with Tim Holtz’s Sizzix Mixed Media 3 die.  I also used the Hero Arts 3D Fancy House die, which I cut in half, to make my happy little house for the focal point of my tin.

Anna-Karin was inspired by some magnets she made years ago, to play around with UTEE.

UTEE-board

I recently found a bunch of magnets covered in layers of Ranger’s Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel, which I made over ten years ago. These two mini panels were made from the smallest of Dina Wakley’s Media Boards. They were stamped with lovely stamps by Wendy Vecchi and coloured with Distress Crayons. Finally, they were coated with layers of UTEE, adding a few coloured embossing powders to the last layer to create even more depth.

Barbara has chosen the sea as a theme of her tag because it works perfectly with embossing powders technique!

emboss simon

You know I love the sea theme! The  Tim Holtz Sand and Sea Die is perfect for this challenge! I love to  mix embossing powders. For my project I used Stampendous Enamel Embossing Powders in Shabby White,  Aged Ivory and a  little pinch of Aged Copper. My background was created with the Paper mosaic technique: it seems to really look like the ocean!

Cathie used three different embossing techniques on her mixed media piece.

IMG_6200-1

For my piece, I created three different backgrounds using a Tim Holtz Postcard embossing folder, Harlequin stencil and the Mini Stash Collage paper collection. Embossing die cut elements with Distress Embossing Powders, like I did on my Caged Bird and Bird Branch is so much fun. It’s exciting to sprinkle the powders in random areas and see the final results after heating.

Cheiron created an embossed frame colored with Distress Crayons to highlight her stamped image.

cheiron_evolutioncard

For my project this week, I used the Ornate Frame 2 Sizzix Die to highlight my stamped image from the Tim Holtz Evolution set. I stamped my image and placed the frame where I wanted it to be then, traced a pencil line inside the framed area and painted over the area outside the line with Distress Collage Crazing medium. I then colored over the crazing with Distress Crayons and rubbed them in with my fingers. I embossed the frame with Ranger Black Embossing Powder and also went over the frame with Distress Crayons for some colorful texture.

Emma used a beautiful Tim Holtz Crosshatch Frameworks Die to create an embossed panel on her canvas!

EmbossItEmma

For my project this week, I decided to create a playful canvas full of texture, dimension and embossing. I began by using the Crosshatch Frameworks Die to die cut four panels from chipboard which I then attached to my canvas to create a raised, embossed area. I used Distress Crayons and Distress Paints to add colour to my background before creating further texture by embossing metal foil tape panels, using the Bullseye Texture Fade, die cut with the Mosaic die, to create pieces that could be layered onto my background, together with idea-ology Gear Findings, vintage ephemera and a Found Relative photo.

Kath created a card using a favourite Texture Fade, Distress Crayons and lots of embossing powders

1-DSC_0019

For this week’s project I used the Postale Texture Fade to emboss white cardstock, coloured with Picked Raspberry, Mustard Seed and Peacock Feathers from Distress Crayons Set 1.I applied Distress Collage Medium Matte with the Distress Collage Brush to seal the surface ready for stamping and embossing. I inked the Halftone Stamp with Versamark Ink and embossed with Ranger White Embossing Powder. I die cut the flowers from black cardstock and Distress Woodgrain card using the Sizzix Tim Holtz Wildflowers Thinlits. I sprinkled a mixture of  Chunky White, Shabby Green and Aged Black Stampendous Frantage Embossing Enamels randomly over the card and heated from underneath until set. I tore a strip of vellum and embossed with the Postale wording before fixing across the bottom of the card. I coloured the Idea-ology Crinkle ribbon with Picked Raspberry Distress Spray Stain to create a double bow.

Macarena is chasing happiness in colors and textures!

DSC00007

First I sprayed all the base with Dylusions Ink Sprays. After that I put the Embossing Ink through the Prima stencil, sprinkled with Clear Embossing Powder and melted with Heat Tool. I covered all the surface with Black Paint by Dylusions. Stamped randomly Rough It Up and Stitched stamps, covered by White Powder and heated. I cut some Wildflowers dies out form a cardstock misted with Dylusions Sprays. Using the same sprays I colored a piece of cardstock and cut Happiness. All the die-cuts were fixed with 3D foam dots. Finally I splashed all the card with White Paint. It’s my first time using this great technique with clear embossing but I love it!

Three “little” birds have a birthday this month at Maura’s house.

EmbossIt

Well, none of us are really little birds, but we are a little crazy, so of course I had to use Tim Holtz’s Bird Crazy stamps on my Ranger tags. I painted my tags with Paper Artsy Fresco Finish Acrylic paints in Zesty Zing, Yellow Submarine, Limelight, and Beach Hut, then embossed them. My birds are all dressed up and ready to party with their Tim Holtz Garden Flower party hats!

Meihsia was inspired to create  a wall hanging with both heat embossing and dry embossing.

Meihsia Liu simply paper crafts mixed media canvas beauty tim holtz prima flowers 601
I decided to use both heat embossing and dry embossing on my mixed media canvas wall hanging for this week’s challenge. After applying some Modeling Paste to create texture on the background of the canvas, I pasted a piece of card stock embossed with Tim Holtz Bingo Embossing Folder on the canvas. The edges and corners of this canvas were colored with Distress Paints and heat embossed with ColorBox Clear Embossing Powder.
Sandra went for heat embossing with her card
IMG_5297

Most of the time I only heat emboss sentiments, but for this card I wanted some texture made with it, instead of using a stencil with texture paste. This is more subtle. I used the Halftones & Rings stamp set along with Versa Mark and Black Embossing Powder. I couldn’t resist to also heat emboss the sentiments with White Embossing Powder on the balloons I cut out with my Silhouette Cameo.ZoeySo now it’s YOUR turn to get out your inks, paints and all things arty and start creating! We are looking forward to seeing what you make!

Zoey had fun with the dry embossing tecnique!

20160509_071330

I loved to decorate these colorful life reminders with Ranger Dylusions Paints Bubblegum Pink and Lemon Squeeze , then I added some touches of interest with the Tim Holtz Idea-Ology postale tissue wrap paper and Prima Flowers D0n’t forget to fly stamps set..and everything was made texturized with the awesome Tim Holtz Sizzix Bubble & Honeycomb fades embossing folders!

This week we are welcoming the lovely and super talented Kassa aka Delight In The Detail into the Designer Spotlight this month. If you haven’t seen Kassa’s  blog then you are in for a great treat! Please pop by and leave her a comment.

Kassa decorated a Prima Flowers Rust Birdcage

Kassa

I love butterflies, so I couldn’t resist giving the Prima Flowers Rust Birdcage a coat of Dina Wakley’s Turquoise Paint creating a haven for the beautiful butterflies on Prima’s Love Letters Treasured Memories Stamp. They look so bright do they look colourised with the Prima Flowers Tropicals and Classics Watercolors Prima’s Watercolor pad once stamped and painted gave my background a lovely soft textured look which blended beautifully with the Salvage District Marble Court Flowers in the foreground and there are a few sequins thrown in the mix too!
Doodles and scribbles with Prima’s Oil Pastel Crayons and plenty of Dyan Reaveley paint splats in Lemon ZestBubblegum PinkWhite Linen and Black Marble sealed a fun creative session!
Andrea made a set of notebooks and pens using Prima’s Garden Fable collection.

IMG_9864

Do you ever feel like you had an epic idea, but can’t remember it?   I got tired of that happening to me, so I made a permanent place for two notebooks and pens to be kept: one for my hubby and one for me.  This “his and hers” notebook set will be a great place for us to record our brilliant…or maybe not so brilliant ideas.  I made these using Prima’s Garden Fable Matchboxes, their Garden Fable Tags and Tickets set and Prima’s Secret Garden Everyday Vintage Paintables 4 x 6 cards.

Anna-Karin had fun weaving with Prima’s Desert Sunset Fiber Art Loom Kit.

loom_house1-Layers-of-ink

When I was a child, I loved weaving, but I hadn’t done it since then, which made working on this wall-hanging extra special. The colours of the Desert Sunset Loom Kit are so gorgeous and I only added a few additional fibers from my stash. The project was embellished with a Finnabair Tin Heart and a Tim Holtz Number Brad. While I worked on this, my son made a small carpet on my old loom.

Barbara used Prima Flowers Metallique Acrilyc Paint  to alter a frame

primasimon

First thing: I’m an absolute beginner in this style, but to play for this challenge it was so fun!! I’m in love with Prima Flowers Metallique Acrilyc Paint! I’ve chose my favourite color Emerald green Metallique to alter this frame! All in this work is altered (the picture of my little girl too, Photoshop I love you!): Paper flower, Prima metal flowers, metal gears, White Square Crochet Doilies… To complete my project I added a quote that I love with Idea- ology Big chat stickers and some Idea-ology gears.

Cathie created a plaque using the Prima Tales of You and Me Collection.

IMG_6191

I like to put little reminders around the house of how important it is to treat others. I chose the Tales of You and Me Collection by Prima because of its beautiful, romantic theme. I used Prima Modeling Paste to give the project texture and colored that with various distress crayons. Adding beautiful Prima flowers and lace trim added the perfect touch.

Cheiron created a burlap canvas for her new craft room using some Prima Licorice Art Ingredients glass beads.

cheiron_mosaichomedecor

I am working on setting up a new craft room and wanted to make a piece using the Tim Holtz Mosaic die. I cut out a bunch of mosaics and painted them, and added different collage papers, a curio knob, a salvaged doll, and a philosophy tag. I used some Prima Licorice Art Ingredients to give my project a little added texture.

Emma created her own piece of treasure using the Flaming Hearts Ex II Votos Relics and Artefacts.

HomeDecorEmma

As soon as I saw these fabulous Relics and Artifacts casts from Prima I decided to create a piece of bejewelled home decor, which would nestle inside a wooden tray. I applied PaperArtsy Fresco Finish Chalk Paint to the tray before adding layers of Frayed Burlap Distress Paint over the top for a more, worn vintage look. I painted my flaming heart using Opal Magic Blue/Gold Acrylic Paint and then added some sparkle with Gold Rush glass glitter and mini art stones. As a finishing touch, I used a Tim Holtz word band.

Kath decorated a Canvas with lots of Prima products
1-Prima Canvas
I created the background by applying a coat of Prima White Heavy Gesso and strips of paper from Prima Life Time A4 Paper Pad and used Tim Holtz HalfTone and Ring stamp set inked with Archival Black and Gathered Twigs Distress Inks. I added Prima “The Archivist” Statement Stickers and created lots of texture with the Splatters Mini Stencil from Set 3 and Wendy Vecchi Crackle Embossing Paste and Art Basics 3D Matte Gel Transparent Paste mixed with Mini Art Stones. I spritzed the Penmanship Flowers with Tattered Rose Distress Spray Stain and coloured the leaves with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink. I added  word stickers and metal embellishments to finish off.

Lols decorated an Antique White Frameworks Metal Birdcage with Penmanship Flowers to brighten up her craft room.

DSC03242

As soon as I saw these gorgeous birdcages I had to have one! I started by adhering a piece of Melange Tissue Wrap to the back panel and then inked with Pumice Stone and Tumbled Glass Inks. I then sprayed with Sparkle Shimmer before using a Bubble Stencil and White Embossing Paste down one side. While it was still wet I gave it a liberal sprinkling with Pumice Stone Distress Glitter. I die cut a butterfly and embossed before adding Prisma Glitter, which is super sparkly. I made a mirror using my Silhouette Cameo and then glued everything in place. I sprayed the Penmanship Flowers with Pumice Stone Spray and Sparkle Shimmer and then used a Glue Gun to position them. I really love how this has turned out!

Macarena made an encouraging shadow box for herself
DSC09893

It’s not a big thing and has approx. 20×15 cm but can contain lots of details! The base was covered with a layer of White Gesso and randomly painted with Distress Stains: Pumice Stone, Weathered Wood, Tumlbed Glass and Shabby Shutters and sprayed with water to let the colors blend naturally. After that I touched it randomly with Black Dylusions Paint and White Gesso. The inside corners were painted with Vintage Photo Distress Stain and blended with water again. After putting all the walls together I could start the best part: embellishing. There are stamps by Tim Holtz and Wendi Vecchi and Idea-ology rub-ons, some metal and wooden elements from my old stash, flower ribbon and pieces of natural light wood taken from a pout-pourri set :-) To give the softiness I put some Wildflowers and a resin embellishment.

Maura’s dreaming of a lovely scene in the Prima Birdcage.

PrimaDecor

I had fun altering the rusty birdcage with several Prima Art Alchemy paints like Emerald Green, Brass Hardware, and Ancient Coin. Then, I added a layer with Finnabair’s Alpha stencil and my favorite black ink, Ranger Archival Jet Black. Just as I was finishing, this delightful moth flew in and landed, courtesy of Prima, the Winged Moth Stamp-N-Add. Love that little spigot body with wings!

Meihsia was inspired to create a mixed media canvas for her craft room using  Prima Flowers Modeling Paste
Meihsia Liu Simply Paper Crafts Mixed Media canvas Home Decor 600
I’ve collected many beautiful mixed media canvases for my home decoration. This week, I wanted to create another one. On this burlap canvas, I made the texture on the background with Prima Flowers Modeling Paste and colored it with Tim Holtz Distress Paints. Some Tim Holtz metal embellishments were attached for more interest.

Sandra made a canvas with a few Prima Archivist Chipboard stickers and lots of other Prima products
IMG_5264
It’s been a while since I made a canvas, and so I was happy that this challenge came along. I had so much fun using lots of Prima products, like my favorite metallic paint the Opal Magic, also the Checkered and Jagged Lines stamps, and lots of metal trinkets from the Sunset Sunrise collection. I made a big mess using the Prima Glitter, but I so love the result of it.

Zoey had fun using Prima Marketing Mica Powder to alter this canvas

Mixed-Media-Layout_Scrapsaurus_Zoey_SimonSaysStamp

I love Prima Marketing Mica Powder, they are so bright! I used Prima Marketing White Sand texture paste through a Prima Marketing Stencil and then I used pieces from the Archivist Chipboard Stickers and More to add decorations and create the layout. The butterfly and the stamps from the Don’t Forget to Fly Cling Stamp were a perfect match and the Prima Flowers Reflection Timeless memories were the perfect final touch!

So now it’s YOUR turn to get out your inks, paints and all things arty and start creating! We are looking forward to seeing what you make!

This is Beulah‘s last week with us in the Designer Spotlight and we would like to say a huge thank you for all of your fabulous creations over the past month, It has been a pleasure having you along with us!

Beulah made an assemblage that celebrates creativity.

Simon

An Idea-ology Quote Band inspired me to assemble a variety of metal objects including a Gadget GearFaucet Knob, and Number Brad along with a vintage key and some rusty bits found on the street. A Burlap Panel worked well for my support because the base is solid and easy to glue or drill through and I used an image transfer technique to create the background using a page from the Destinations Paper Stash. I thought the altered Salvaged Doll could be an artist, the faucet knob represents effort, the number stands for time, the key unlocks the idea, the gear stands for the process and the result is beauty represented by the three Heirloom Roses. Just don’t come anywhere near it with a magnet!

Andrea combined all sorts of metal bits and bobs to make this artsy key ring.

IMG_9845

This challenge theme inspired me to have fun with some keys that I sanded, covered with Gesso and colored with Dina Wakley acrylic paint.  And since keys need a home, I went for the whole ball of wax with an artsy key ring.  I used a ton of Tim Holtz goodies (letterpress letter, Little Words stamp, enameled tags, trinket pins, etc.) to bring my key ring to life.

Anna-Karin added to her collection of metallic tags this week.

metal_mania_tag--Layers-of-ink

I had some left-over Tim Holtz remnant rubs on my desk and started to apply them to a tag covered with torn metallic tape. After a bit of sanding and inking with alcohol inks, I thought the background was pretty cool and almost didn’t want to cover it up. The label, car and words were stamped with Tim’s Distress Archival Ink Palette and I also added a bunch of metallic idea-ology pieces.

Barbara was inspired by steampunk and springtime!

IMG_4010 copia

I love metal and I love Steampunk style! For this reason I couldn’t resist to  use the new Tim Holtz Sizzix Gearhead Thinlits  Die with which I decorated the roof of my little house that I cut with Tim Holtz Sizzix Die Village Dwelling! In my springly  garden I used different  elements Idea-ology and Prima Marketing altered with  Distress Paints and Prima Flowers Metallique  Paint Steampunk Copper!

Cathie went outside her comfort zone and created a steampunk themed canvas.

IMG_6177

I created my steampunk bird from Tim Holtz Idea-ology Regal, Timepieces Clock Face and Clock Keys metal pieces. The vibrant colors on my base canvas are Dylusions Paints applied using one of my favorite techniques of applying paint with a Ranger Brayer.

Cheiron used metallic paper and a faux metal embellishment on her card.

cheiron_loveyoumom

I created my card base and most of the die cut pieces from Reverse Confetti Cuts flowers for Mom dies and Tim Holtz Kraft Core Metallic Paper. I made some coordinating Distress Woodgrain Cardstock with Distress Spray stains in Cracked Pistachio, Salty Ocean and Tarnished Brass. I also used the stains and some tissue wrap to create my flower. I substituted the traditional flower center with one of the Hello Love Resin Embellishments to finish off my card.

Emma couldn’t resist the temptation of using metal as the main feature of her card!

MetalEmma

Just as I started working on this week’s challenge, the Tim Holtz Gearhead Thinlits Dies had just arrived on my desk and since metal and gears are a match made in heaven, how could I resist the temptation!?! So, I created a project, using metal foil tape to create a background, embossed with the Riveted Metal Texture Fade before being coloured with Tarnished Brass and Black Soot Distress Paints to create a rusty effect. After an addition of Distress Crayon, I created a circular frame for my Imaginary stamped image and surrounded it with die cut gears and metal embellishments!

Kath used an embossing powder recipe mix to create a rusty metal effect on her photo album cover

1-metal 2

I used Metal Foil Tape with an embossing folder to create my background. I  coloured the metal sheet with Black and Vintage Photo Distress Crayons from Set 3 and wiped the colour back slightly with a paper towel. I used a mix of embossing powders ( a Wendy Vecchi recipe) to create my rust effect on the edges of the cover, the gears die cut using Tim Holtz Sizzix Thinlits Gearhead and an ElementaryFlashcard from my stash. I decorated the gears with Idea-ology Nailheads and added Dapper Design Tape and words from Idea-ology Big Chat and Small Talk  Stickers

Macarena

DSC09830

My card is full of hearts and colors. The hearts are cut from a watercolor paper. The base is Prima Salvage District paper stamped with circles and covered with a heavy acetate just to moderate the black circles. It seems my fave color combo contains purple turquoise distress colors. I’ve mixed it with some Hickory Smoke to outline the edges and inside of the hearts, then I add some White Pen touches to the hearts. I stamped slightly a lace and stitch with the same grey distress. Glued all the composition with the 3D dots and put the metal sentiment inside the heart. Finally I drag the twine between two hearts and made a bow. The last thing was cutting the Love word and hang it up the twine.

A rusty pocket watch inspired Maura to create a steampunk style shadow box.

Metal

I loved that I got to try out some new products this week. It all started with the wonderfully rusty Finnabair Mechanicals Pocket Watchers by Prima. I knew I wanted to try out the Ice Resin and Ivory Relique Iced Enamel with the watch and fill it with old watch parts. It is amazing stuff ! Then, Prima’s Stamp-N-Add Moth Wings arrived in the mail, and I just had to add it to the shadowbox of every day treasures.

Meihsia is planning her family summer trip already.

Meihsia Liu Simply Paper Crafts Mixed Media Tag Journey 600

I was inspired to create this mixed media tag with some metal elements and the travel theme. The background of this tag was embossed with Tim Holtz Texture Fades Embossing Folder and colored with Distress ink pads. After covering the tag with Faber-Castell Glitter Gel, I attached the metal embellishments as the final touch.

Sandra was inspired by the metallic shimmer of the foil
IMG_5240
I’m in love with the new Halftone & Rings stamp set from Tim Holtz! When picked it up from the post office the other day, it was inked up within minutes! I painted some Opal Magic Alchemist Paint over it to bring in the metallic shimmer, and the black ink became gold metallic. It really is magical paint! To add more metallic, I used a glue stick with Prima Rub On Foil. I used the new Painted Faith die from Simon Says Stamp from the My Favorite release! But also the new Butterfly Ensemble dies from Memory Box.

Zoey decided to alter cardboard box to gift her friend a necklace

Mixed-Media-Jewlry-box-Scrapsaurus

I love working with metal colors, and it is so easy when you work with Art Alchemy by Prima Marketing!. I also used The Crafter’s Workshop Mini Harlequin Stencil to add some transparent Heavy Body gel. As always Tim Holtz small talks are the perfect add on to the whole project!

So now it’s YOUR turn to get out your inks, paints and all things arty and start creating! We are looking forward to seeing what you make!
