Challenge: Due Date

When I think of due dates, I always think about libraries. Date stamps. Oh yes, and craft assignments! This week whether the words make you think of a new baby or school assignment, the library or perhaps something past due – we look forward to your interpretation. Just remember this challenge is due no later than Sunday evening (see end of post for exact time)!

Meihsia was inspired to use a date stamp on her art journal page.

I love using date stamp to document life. On this art journal page, after coloring the background with Distress Spray Stain and water, I stamped the date with American Crafts Dear Lilly Date Stamp , and added more dates and numbers with Tim Holtz Idea-ology Numbers Remnant Rubs. The compass was stamped and die cut using Sizzix Framelits Compass Blueprint Die And Stamp Set.

A post with her new Silhouette Cameo is long over due for Michelle.

Although there’s no actual due date, it’s about time that I learn to use my new Silhouette Cameo. By pairing it with some Stampendous Marks stamps and a fun Date Stamp, a few simple cut shapes can make a big impact. Which is a good thing….because it’s all I can do with it right now.

Andrea decided to make a bulletin board calendar to keep her due dates straight.

I was always that nerdy kid in school who would start to hyperventilate if she earned an A- on something instead of an A. If it was due, I knew about it. I was on it! But somewhere along the way, either I got lazy or my brain turned to mush because I sure need a lot more reminders than I used to! Using Prima’s Timeless Memories paper, a circle punch and a whole lot of Dina Wakley acrylic paint, I made myself a bulletin board calendar to get back to my organized roots.

Emma is making sure she never forgets another important date!

My desk is always covered with scraps of paper and notes to remind me of important dates but when I saw this challenge it gave me the perfect opportunity to create something that was so much more appealing to the eye. I began by altering a plain clipboard with a layer of Wendy Vecchi’s Crackle Paste before adding layers of colour using Cracked Pistachio, Brushed Pewter and Picket Fence Distress Paints. To complete the board I used the beautiful die cut feathers and butterflies and added these to a collage of Tim Holtz pocket cards.

Ashli crafted up a long overdue thank you note this week…

due_ashli

Oh, yes… this card is long over due! After a wonderful gift received, I really must send a proper thank you note! So, after applying some Modeling Paste through a Chevron Stencil, I added some Gelatos and Watercolors. Then, a few punched butterflies add some welcome movement to the composition. To finish things off, I added a little die cut Hello word. Now… to mail it!

Suzz created a layout inspired by a tag.

Have you ever had something that inspired your entire project? Usually when this happens I end up not using it on the project. This time the tag had me thinking of a monochromatic layout even including printing my photo in sepia tones. I used some beautiful Ranger Distress Stain Sprays (Vintage Photo and Antique Linen) along with the Tim Holtz Flourish Laying Stencil to create a backdrop for the photo and journal cards. I was happy my inspiration piece made it all the way through to the finished project.

Barbara always tries to arrive in advance on due date: appointments, payments, craft assignments!

Time and watch are very important for me! This is the reason I decided to use as element of inspiration for this challenge themed due date , Tim’s dies “Pocket watch” , used on my Art Journal page together to winged elements as dragonfly and butterflies, to represent how fast time flies away!

Sandra made a weekplanner to be more organized

I always try new ways to stay organized. So I made this weekplanner and see if this will help me to stay on top of my blogging. The display is made out of foamboard that I painted with Black Soot and I used Magnetic Panels to adhere my cards to the display and make it interactive. I will rotate the days, and when a day is over I’ll place it at the end of the board so that the next day is first inline.

Anna-Karin couldn’t help but to think about babies when she heard ‘due date’.

Since I love clear elements, I knew I wanted to make an album with Hero Arts new Clearly Kelly Wallet Album by Kelly Purkey. For my album, I also used two of the plastic inserts and the Grid Booklet. The background was done with watercolours and embellished with stamps and die cuts. The blue stamping was done with Mermaid Lagoon, which arrived here just half an hour before I started working on the album.

I (May) set aside all thoughts of the things I have due and just played in my journal.

forgetmenot

Armed with just a few Prima Watercolor pencils and my trusty small art journal I headed out into the woods to forget all the pressures of everyday life. Am I a great sketch artist now? Not so much. But it was so wonderful to just play with color + images in front of me instead of focusing on what I needed or should be doing.

50dollar_voucher_600px

As always, Simon Says Stamp is giving away a $50 gift voucher that will go to a random entry chosen by random generator. To qualify all you need to do is create a new project that ties in (in any way!) with our theme and post it, along with a link back to this challenge, and add a link here. This challenge will end at 11:59pm on Sunday April 26th Eastern time. We will also be choosing some of our entries to put in the spotlight – a special honor where we talk about why we loved that entry in particular and award a special badge too! For the full rules, read the “challenge rules” posted in the side-bar here on our blog.

  1. Every single one of those is just incredible. I really got inspired this week!

  2. Fantastic project today. I saw some of them on social media this morning and couldn’t wait to get home and take a closer look. Off to blog hop. :)

  3. Yikes I added the wrong baby card to the linky.
I meant to add the pink and mint baby card #97.
I tried to remove the blue and yellow one #96 but couldn’t.
    Crafty hugs,
    Dawn
