Hi crafty friends! Welcome back to the latest edition of Weekender with Wanda here on the Simon Says Stamp blog! So happy to have you here for a part of your weekend.  Did you have a great week? What are you working on in your craft room right now? I’d love to know! I am busy trying to re-stock birthday cards in my stash. I seem to have used them all! So this weekend I thought I would share a birthday card idea and feature one of our favorite companies – My Favorite Things. I combined some florals, a pretty alphabet font, and plaid all into one bright and cheerful birthday card creation!

I used the gorgeous Modern Blooms stamp set and dies to make a pretty handful of sunflowers. Normally, when I use this stamp set I make all different colors of flowers. I was thinking it might be cool to make them all the same this time. I used the largest bloom in the set and used traditional sunflower colors of yellow, orange and brown. When I layered my paper I thought the plaid was a perfect match!

I stamped and die cut my flowers out of the Modern Blooms stamp set (with matching dies) and set them aside. I love this new Rounded Rectangle set of stacking dies so I used that as my white layering piece. I die cut out some bright yellow Stitched Alphabet letters to spell H-A-P-P-Y! I stamped my sentiment in Intense Black Ink for some contrast. The sentiment is from the Adorable Elephants stamp set. I thought the font matched the die cut letters nicely. (Fun tip – combine die cuts and stamped sentiments together for a graphic look)

My leaves were stamped in two different colors of green and layered underneath the flowers with foam tape.

You know I always love some twine and enamel dots for an accent! This twine is from Lawn Fawn and the enamel dot is from Doodlebug! You can also see my paper layers here – White A2 card base, a bit of yellow, then plaid. Delicious!

Here is a close up of my flower cluster on the top. I used three of the sunflowers and then tucked in some leaves behind.
