Hello! Happy 4th of July Weekend! Yay! Welcome back to the latest edition of Weekender with Wanda here on the Simon Says Stamp Blog. Really happy to have you here as part of your holiday weekend fun. Are you doing something cool for the 4th tomorrow? Do you light off fireworks at your house? Go to a big show? I’d love to know! We keep it pretty low key at our house but sometimes we do this one really fun thing… If we drive about 10 miles East from our house we will get up into the beginning of the mountains. There is this one road where you can park your car and see down into the valley, and I bet you can see 100 miles if it’s clear. So, if you go up there during the fireworks time, you can see about 10 shows all at once lighting off in the distance. We just park my husband’s truck and sit on the back! Other people have discovered our secret spot but everyone is really nice and festive!

Thanks for all the ‘sweet’ comments on my ice cream truck card last week! That was a fun one. Today, I’m continuing the Summer treats theme with an iced coffee card. I loooooove coffee! Today I’m featuring one of our favorite stamp companies – My Favorite Things Stamps! I know you all love their products too. They have a line of stamps and dies that are all coffee related and they are fresh and fabulous. I used the MFT Cool Cup Die-namics along with the MFT Stay Cool Stamp set to create my card today. I paired my stamps and dies with some bright pink gingham paper, also from MFT. Refreshing!

1

I started by creating a card base out of bright white neenah cardstock. Then I added another layer of white for some interest, and then the Gingham Paper. I stamped the sentiment on the bottom of the gingham paper using Intense Black Ink from Simon Says Stamp.

2

The circle was die cut using the Radial Stitched Circles Stax dies. I die cut it out of watercolor paper to add texture and to match my focal images.

3

For the coffee cup, I first die cut all of the pieces out of watercolor paper. You can see here that there is a domed lid piece too that you can use! I wanted to use the whipped cream instead, this time!

4

To color the coffee part of the image I used, what else, Ground Espresso Distress Ink! I also added a tiny bit of Vintage Photo Distress Ink to make the color more warm. I used lots of water and let the colors just kind of flow on the die cut paper. I set that aside to dry. I die cut a second cup out of watercolor paper and then hand cut the center out of it to make the pink piece – as my coffee cozy. I colored that using the same technique, and Picked Raspberry Distress Ink – which is a perfect match for the paper.

5

I added some water droplets to take away some of the ink. I also used White Mist to make white droplets in my ‘coffee’! I did this by removing the lid from the mist bottle and tapping the bottom part over my paper. Does anyone else want an iced mocha right now??? MMMM.

6

I colored the straw using Twisted Citron Distress Ink. I coated the whipped cream with glue and Hero Arts Prisma Glitter.

7

That’s your treat for today! Thank you for stopping by the Simon Says Stamp Blog! Wishing you a fun, safe, and fabulous 4th of July! Have a great day! Happy Birthday America!

  1. Cute card! I love coffee, too. Picked up this hint on Pinterest. Pour coffee into an ice tray (if you still have one). The ice cubes keep your iced coffee cold AND don’t dilute your brew!

  2. What a sweet card, Wanda, with a beautiful message! Hope you had a safe 4th and found the perfect parking spot for viewing fireworks! We took our pontoon boat out on our lake and saw a fabulous professional show plus those of lake residents…so cool.
