Techniques to DIE for!

Hello everyone! Today I have some fun basics to go over, all involving dies! Dies have become hot, hot, HOT this past year! From the Hero Arts Frame Cuts with matching stamps, to My Favorite Things wide variety, to the wonderful Memory Boxdies are every where!

If dies are your thing, or you’re interested in learning more about them- it’s never too late to sign up for the A Cut Above Class! Jennifer McGuire, Kristina Werner, Nichol Magouirk, and 9 talented guest designers will teach you the ins, outs, ups, and downs of using dies and the die-cutting machines! Best news- the information is permanently on the site! So you will have constant knowledge for you any time you need help or inspiration!

One important thing to remember is the “sandwich recipe” for dies. Depending on the machine, and the type of die, the way you place the plates, die, paper, etc into the machine really does matter! In the A Cut Above Class, they have 4 different PDF’s for the Sizzix Big Shot Machine, the Tim Holtz Sizzix Vagabond Machine, the Cuttlebug Machine, and the Spellbinders Grand Calibur Machine. (The class also uses the Silhouette Machine– but you don’t need a recipe for dies for that!)

Here’s an example of a “sandwich recipe” for wafer thin dies!
Bottom: Solo Platform Sku #657155
Next: Solo Platform Shim (comes with Solo Platform) Sku #657155
Next: Wafer Thin Die Adapter Sku #657160
Next: 1 Clear Plate
Sku 37-1258– normally the machines come with these but when they wear out you can get a replacement!
Next: Any Wafer Thin Die
Next: Paper or other material that you want to die-cut
Top: 1 Clear Plate Sku 37-1258
(these replacement plates come with 2!)

Also, on this post about the video, Jennifer shows what stamps match up with what frame cuts! It’s an awesome reference for when purchasing these!
