Misti Marbling Technique

Happy Sunday everyone! it’s Shari here with a cool technique using the Misti tool.

I was inspired by my amazingly talented friend Lydia Fielder with this technique and thought I’d give it a try. I used subdued colors of Sea Glass, Duckling, Willow and Hydrangea inks from Simon Says Stamp.

The idea of this technique is to use the Misti tool and it’s positioning ability to add layers of ink. You can add ink in small amounts and small places to achieve a marbled look. Using a solid image works best, so I used the the largest stripe from the Basic Stripes stamp set.

I started with Sea Glass ink on portions of of the stamp and faded the edges by tapping with my fingertip. From there I added a little Willow, Hydrangea and Duckling in small amounts with my finger until I have the look I wanted. The overlapping colors create the marbled effect. Note: You could use a rubber glove to apply the ink to avoid fingerprints or tap a little extra to fade them out.

To finish my card, I used the Wink of Stella white to cover the “Enjoy”. I accidentally squeezed then pen till it was dripping… and got a couple drops on my card…so I went with it and added more by tapping the pen while hovering over the card. Happy Accident!!

I’ve shot a video of the marbling technique, you can view it below or on our YouTube channel.
