Hello Crafters! I’m so excited to be back guesting on the Simon Says Stamp blog!

They have had such an awesome release (Create Joy) recently and I’m using some gorgeous sets from it :)

I started with the idea of replacing the “O” in Joy from Big Create Joy with a beautiful wreath from the Autumn Blessings stamp set. I love the look of these gorgeous wreaths stamped in dye ink but I wanted to bring a little oomph to the images with some Copic coloring. I love how doing this can help make a solid image more unique. I used second generation stamping as a foundation to bring in some shading with my markers. Even though the stamped images are all one layer adding a bit of shading can really help them jump off the page.

I created a fun video tutorial for you guys. I hope you enjoy!

I just love a simple one layer panel and these stamps make it so easy!
If you have any questions please let me know in the comments below. I’ll be stopping by to answer any that are left all week.

Thank you so much to Simon Says Stamp for having me! It’s been a real honor!

  1. I have been trying to stay away from blogs recently to curb my spending… but as soon as I come here it’s all over:-) Love this card and what a simple but fabulous idea.

  2. Really enjoyed your copic coloring. You make the shading look so easy. Practice, practice! One day I will be better at it. Thanks Kelly love your work.

  3. I absolutely love the way you colored this image! Your shading rocks!!! I totally learned something today, thanks!!!

  4. Such a gorgeous card! Love your touches of shading and highlighting with the aqua and white gel pen. So pretty! :)

  5. I am all about my Copic markers lately… Really enjoying practicing my coloring as the weather turns colder.

  6. Kelly, I have seen several of your videos, and I have to say, you ROCK!! I love your cards, but the little details you add are just the bomb!!!! Outlining the sentiment and adding a shadow around everything gives that little touch that makes a card so AWESOME!!

    thanks so much!!!

  7. I can’t believe how much I just learned from watching this one video! I had to write a 2nd comment to say thank you for the tips on using stamps to create a template for coloring, & using the white gel pen to make that sentiment pop!

  8. When I saw this at first I thought you had stamped the joy and then very patiently spent some time dry embossed the stamped image from behind. You have awesome colouring skills girl – these stamps are lovely and you’ve taken them to another level by the way you coloured them – you must share you colouring secrets with us! TFS and thanks to Simon Says too Karen x

  9. Wow, Kelly’s work is amazing. I learned so much from her video too. Cant wait to try the white outline around a sentiment and some of her coloring techniques!

  10. Such a beautiful card! As much as I enjoy seeing all the different colors on Christmas cards, you just can’t go wrong with traditional. As I watched, and thought.. Ooh, that’s so pretty. It just kept getting more and more amazing. ♥

  11. Such amazing coloring! I’ve been trying to make do with the colors I have but seeing such gorgeous cards makes me want to add to my collection!
