Autumn Thanks!

Hi everyone…Happy Monday! It’s Shari here with a card inspiration using some Ranger products.

I went off the rails and tried something completely different. I used several layers of painted tissue papers to build up an interesting background.

Shari Carroll AUTUMN THANKS 3

This technique is very easy to do and a great way to learn to use the Gelli Plate. I found it really relaxing. It all starts off with some Dina Wakley paints, Tim Holtz Layering stencils, and tissue paper.

I could see myself creating an art journal page like this too! I’ve shot a video of the process, hope you find it easy to follow.

  1. It’s so interesting, Shari! I’ve never seen the Gelli plate before. Crafters post cards, having used it, but I had no idea what it was. Somehow, I thought it was similar to Gelatos. LOL But what a cool thing… I’m so suprised at how all the layers of tissue paper with paint on them came together, when decopaged! You are so innovative and I agree, the white leaf on that background is stunning! Thanks for your fabulous videos.

  2. Once again, I am so inspired to make something of my own, after watching a Simon video! Shari, your projects never fail to get me itching to craft :)

  3. The card, the technique, and your instructions were fantastic! I LOVE this look. Thank you so much for showing me how you can work towards achieving it. Woo hoo!

  4. Sheri, I love watching you work. I have followed you on Hero Arts and now here. Each time the video is concise and very educational for someone who wants to learn new techniques.

  5. Shari, this is perfect!! Thanks for telling us about the small Gelli plate-never knew it existed. Your prints and collaged background are soooo pretty and the whole video scratched me where I itch!! I kept saying “wow!” at every pull of the tissue. TFS!! Hugs! Cathy

  6. I was not familiar with the Gelli plate so now I need to add it to my wish list. Don’t you just have the best job ever!

  7. Thank you for teaching me a new technique. Your card turned out stunning! I will definitely bookmark this so I can try in the future. Thanks so much for the inspiration!

  8. Thank you for sharing. I’m always so in awe of your willingness to try so many techniques, always beautiful at the end of your process. Thank you for sharing.

  9. I’ve never used a gelli plate before. I will have to find a small one like you used and get to work! You made it look like a lot of fun and it is very different from my usual stamping techniques. Thanks for the ideas!

  10. Wonderful card!! This technique looks awesome. Your colors are just beautiful & I can’t wait to try this out.

  11. I so love this technique! I am very new to cardmaking/crafting in general! I’ve been a lifelong sewer and this is all new to me! Thank you so very much for sharing!

  12. What a fascinating process – I love the final result and this looks like so much fun!!! Thank you as always for your wonderful videos – I’m always learning something new!!

  13. I do not know a lot about gelli plates, but you are sure helping educate me on the subject. Beautiful results.

  14. Terrific video–short but full of good stuff. Looks like fun! Once my current Christmas projects are completed, I’ll try my hand at this. Great backgrounds! Will be awesome for mixed media art.
